About
Ryan has been playing the harp for over eight years. In 2024, Ryan became a certified harp therapist through the Healing Harp Certification program at California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) / Sutter Health. This program is accredited by the National Standard Board for Therapeutic Musicians (NSBTM). His work at CPMC involved 45 hours of one on one patient playing time, during which he engaged with more than 100 patients from different backgrounds and with varying needs. He has studied harp with Laura Simpson, Natalie Cox, and Portia Diwa. Outside of the harp, Ryan holds a PhD from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and works professionally as a molecular biologist.
Ryan enjoys playing a diversity of genres on the harp, be it folk, classical or pop. Improvisation is also a central feature of Ryan’s harp music. With his music, Ryan aims to create a comforting and supportive environment that encourages individuals to relax and connect with their inner selves. His goal is to honor each individual's unique needs and preferences, and to empower them to experience the physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits of harp therapy.
